In the midst of our busy lives, it’s time once again for us to renew our efforts to engage in the world with awareness and equanimity. Sesshin offers us the setting to set aside an extended period of time to turn our full attention to simple daily activities—just eating, just sitting, just walking. By doing so, we remind the body and mind of our intention to be fully present in conditions as they reveal themselves in the larger spectrum of life. Sesshin is an integral part of zen practice, for although we may strive to attain an open and awake mind each day, it is difficult to do so without devoting periods of time to slow down and to pay attention and to receive so much that we miss in our daily lives.
Please join us for this 5 day sesshin, beginning at 7pm, Tuesday July 24th and ending at noon on Sunday, July 29th. For those who need a modified schedule because of unavoidable family or work conditions such as child care, or because of age or other physical conditions, please contact the sesshin director who will help you set up a schedule that works for you: firstname.lastname@example.org (Brent Beavers).
